Shape
Theory and definition
•A
shape is an area enclosed by a line. It could be just an outline or it could be
shaded in.
•Shapes can be either geometric, like a circle, square or triangle, or irregular.
•Shapes can be either geometric, like a circle, square or triangle, or irregular.
•When drawing shapes, you must consider the size and position as well as the shape of the area around it. The shapes created in the spaces between shapes are referred to as negative space.

Brandt analysis:
The photograph depicts the image of a nude female figure using both white and negative space to create a sense of space and mysteriousness as to why the subject has a dull and saddened facial expression hinting to the treatment of women negatively due to the negative space...?
We can see that there is a steep contrast gradient between the subject and the background. which tells us the Brandt wants the audience to focus on the woman as the main aspect of the image with the negative/ black space around it being secondary.

I felt that the image below was quiet dark and that the image was limited in terms of lighting and exposure therefore i have pout it into Photoshop in order to correct and alter these values so that the final image is as desired.

By using layers as well as the levels function i am able to highlight darker areas to lift the overall brightness off the image.
AO3: Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress.

Was my way of using simple shapes to create a focal point in order to emphasise the simplicity and receptivity of everyday objects. I used a simple black piece of folded card to create a contrasting backdrop. this was so that the off-white scrabble tiles stand out and the shape can come out in a clean defined way.
AO2: Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops.
Camera Settings:
With a standard ISO of 800, i set my camera to a lower f stop from 2.8/4 for a few of the images in order to achieve the blurred areas present. The intention was to used this to create a smaller area of focus drawing the audience to a single point of the photograph. the Shutter was set to 1/125 as i was shooting on a tripod and the lighting was natural and slightly less than desired.
AO4: Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements.
